HTC Desire HD - Initial Impressions.

Recently I purchased the HTC Desire HD for Vodafone. The phone features an impressive 1Ghz Snapdragon processor, which, although may not be the fastest on the current market, is an impressive clock speed, HTC have been critisied for releasing a 'Modern Smartphone' which lacks in general speed, I disagree with anyone who says this, I have owned and used many 'up to date' smartphones and have had no less of an experience with the Desire HD. I have downloaded and used many applications which push many devices to their limits but these applications on the Desire HD have not only looked a lot better, they have performed extremely well in comparison.

The build quality of the Desire HD has to be one of the most impressive I have ever felt. It is constructed out of an aluminum body which provides a healthy weight and feel to the device. The ergonomic construction to the Desire HD is perfect, the edges are perfectly formed and glide effortlessly into the palm of my small to medium sized hands. The device features 2/3 physical buttons, the power button, which is located on the top left of the phone, and the volume rocker on the left hand side of the phone, these buttons are well placed and offer a healthy feel to them. You may be thinking... How can Android function with only 2 buttons? The HTC Desire HD features 4 capacitive buttons which are located in the normal positions - the bottom of the screen. These buttons not only compliment the aesthetics of the device but actually provide a better feel and function to it. On the bottom of the phone are 2 ports, a micro USB port - for charging and transferring data, and the 3.5mm headphone jack - which provides poor sound compared to the Apple iPhone. Placed at the top of the screen is a speaker for calls, an LED indicator and a proximity sensor. One disappointment with the device's build is located on the rear, the camera lens petrudes out of the back of the phone by about a few millimetres although this does not sound a huge deal, this petrusion out of the device not only looks horrific, but actually allows the lens to be easily scratched. I don't know if this is a necessity for the product to have, but HTC have made quite a significant error in doing so.
